ST. PAUL, Minn. – Securian Financial Group Inc. Chairman and President/CEO Robert L. Senkler has been named Executive of the Year by the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal. Senkler has spent his entire career at Securian moving up the ranks from his early days as an actuarial trainee in 1974 to being named CEO in 1994 and chairman in 1995. Under his leadership, net capital has tripled from $598 million to more than $1.8 billion. "Securian is a great company," said Senkler. "I inherited a wonderful corporate culture when I moved into this job, as well as a lot of good people who care about this place as much as I do. When you have that many talented, motivated individuals pulling in the same direction, you're bound to see wonderful things happen." Senkler will be honored at a luncheon in St. Paul February 15. Securian, parent of Minnesota Life Insurance Company, is the state's tenth largest private employer with 2,200 employees in the Twin Cities and 3,100 nationwide.
