WASHINGTON-Speakers are already making commitments to address CUNA's Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, D.C. Feb. 26-March 1. The GAC, held at the Hilton Washington & Towers, usually draws thousands of credit union representatives from around the country to Capitol Hill at the start of each congressional session. It also brings in some top-notch speakers. Treasury Secretary John Snow has accepted the invitation to speak. He has addressed CUNA's GAC every year since he was sworn in and typically recommits to supporting the credit union tax-exemption. In addition, CUNA has already confirmed with House Financial Services Committee Chairman Michael Oxley (R-Ohio), who has announced he will retire at the end of 2006, and CURIA co-authors Ed Royce (R-Calif.) and Paul Kanjorski (D-Pa.).
