LIVONIA, Mich. – Co-op Services Credit Union has shipped 144 new pre-school books to Mississippi for children who were impacted by Hurricane Katrina. The credit union joined with Project Embrace, a program initiated to help young children driven to shelters by Hurricane Katrina, and for early care and education programs. “The books were collected at each of our branches throughout October,” said Co-op Services CU Marketing Vice President Russell Kotila. “Although the Mississippi Early Childhood Institute only accepted new books, several people donated used books as well. We were able to give these to a pre-school facility in Detroit that was in desperate need of books.” Co-op Services will also continue to collect monetary donations for Hurricane relief victims.
