Global Credit Union, Spokane, Wash., Bankruptcy specialist Gloria Thomsen has been presented the Dominic Allessio Employee of the Quarter Award. Thomsen was nominated and chosen for this award by her peers. Her nomination was due to her kindness and understanding while working with members who are having financial problems. She has been with the credit union for 17 years and has worked in Special Credits as a bankruptcy specialist for 12 of those years. BECU, Tukwila, Wash., has named local resident /member Kathleen Brengman Volunteer of the Year. On behalf of Brengman, BECU has made a donation of $2,500 to KidsDream of Snohomish County. In addition to her full-time job of owning and directing Sunnyside Preschool in Lake Stevens, in the last year Brengman volunteered over 450 hours to KidsDream of Snohomish County, and served as its board vice president Credit Union West, Glendale, Ariz., own Marnie Crowl has been awarded the 2005 Helping Our People Everyday (H.O.P.E.) award. The award is an annual recognition of the employee that exemplifies the mission of credit unions to put members' needs first. Crowl was singled out for her action taken on behalf of a young Airman. Unison Credit Union, Kaukauna, Wis., has been honored, for the third consecutive year, with a first-place award for outstanding efforts to improve youth financial literacy in Wisconsin. Unison CU has demonstrated a commitment to youth education by operating Classroom Credit Union for the past 12 years. The program teaches the basics of saving, checking and borrowing to second graders.
