JACKSONVILLE, N.C. -WesCorp and Counterintelligence Associates have kicked off this year’s edition of Operation Best Wishes. Operation Best Wishes is a program started last year by WesCorp and Counterintelligence Associates. During the holiday season, it allows family members of military personnel overseas to record video messages here in the U.S. that their loved ones overseas can download at www.operationbestwishes.com. Counterintelligence Associates provides the technology for the Web-based messages. WesCorp provides administrative support and funding. “When you talk about taxation and what credit unions stand for, these are the things we need to be doing. Credit unions care about their members, and this is just one way to show it,” said WesCorp Director of Public Relations Walter Laskos. The event received plenty of good PR from local radio and television stations. Tom Glatt, Jr. of Counterintelligence Associates also worked with the media on the mission behind Operation Best Wishes. Laskos said it not only delivers a good message about credit unions caring for their members, but also drives home the importance of the nation’s military personnel. Last year more than 125 families participated, but it was only done on the West Coast. This year, with the addition of East Coast sites, they expect closer to 350. The recordings were done last week at Marine FCU in Jacksonville, N.C. at a Navy FCU location in Norfolk, Va. Operation Best Wishes will then head to the West Coast, with sessions set up at Pacific Marine CU, Wescom CU and North Island CU.
