LOS ANGELES – The $325 million First City Credit Union, headquartered in downtown Los Angeles, is helping a local art museum in nearby Lancaster, California to celebrate its 20th anniversary by sponsoring an exhibit on ancient Egypt. Exploring Ancient Egypt will run from Nov. 5 2005 through Jan. 15, 2006 and will include a life-size replica of an ancient Egyptian chariot with a pharaoh, a lion, and a horse; a replica of an everyday house scene; a section devoted to mummification; and replica artifacts from King Tutankhamun's burial. Also on display will be an array of antiquities such as headrests, falcon mummies, mummy masks, furniture, coffins, statuettes, pottery, amulets, and jewelry, along with an "Egyptian Bazaar Gift Shop" featuring a great selection of Egyptian themed items and toys, books, and belly-dancing clothing, as well as authentic ancient Egyptian artifacts, the credit union said. "We greatly appreciate the support of organizations such as First City Credit Union and Boeing, who have sponsored this wonderful exhibit," said Norma Gurba, curator of the City of Lancaster Museum/Art Gallery. "It is through their sponsorship dollars that we are able to bring the heritage of ancient Egypt to the Antelope Valley community, where school children and their families can learn about this truly fascinating culture."
