WASHINGTON-The Credit Union Legislative Action Council of CUNA is plowing ahead toward another banner year for money in and out of the political action committee. CULAC is approaching its goal to "do better," according to Richard Gose, CUNA vice president of political action. At year-end 2003-the last non-election year-CULAC had receipts of $1.7 million and made contributions of $1.3 million, according to filings with the Federal Election Commission. Through Sept. 30 of this year, CULAC has made $1.3 million in contributions and received $1.23 million in contributions. In the same period in 2003, CULAC was at $1 million each in receipts and disbursements. See charts below for details.
