CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Michael Lyster, a veteran commercial and commercial real estate banker, has joined University of Virginia Community Credit Union as its new vice president of business services. Lyster's experience includes serving small and middle-market businesses and real estate investors since 1993. He most recently served with SunTrust Banks as a middle market commercial portfolio specialist for the Virginia Central Region, with responsibility for a portfolio of more than $250 million in commercial loans and commitments. "We are very pleased to welcome Michael to the credit union," said Alison DeTuncq, credit union president. "Our members asked us to offer commercial services, so it was very important to us to have someone of Michael's caliber head up this effort." The $314 million CU just launched business lending, which will be the first of a series of services being rolled out in coming months to support businesses in Central Virginia. The credit union's business lending program includes lines of credit; term loans; and commercial real estate loans. "I'm pleased to be part of an organization that has served Central Virginia for over 50 years, and the business services department is a great opportunity to build on that tradition of service," Lyster said. "I am excited about the prospect of working with credit union members to develop the business services that best meet their needs."
