AUSTIN, Texas – A first-of-its-kind gathering of NCUA regional information security officers and subject matter experts with IT security professionals from credit unions will be held in January in Austin. The sessions on changing regulatory expectations, risk assessment and management and other topics will be highlights of the first IT Security Summit by the Credit Union Information Security Professionals Association (CUISPA). The newly formed organization has about 200 members from credit unions and several vendors and other organizations, such as CUNA Mutual. “For the first time, key information security specialists from each of the five NCUA regions, the Office of Corporate Credit Unions, and the Central Office will meet with credit union IT professionals for a national conference on credit union information security and regulatory compliance,” says Kelly Dowell, director of CUISPA (www.cuispa.org). The conference will be held Jan. 29-31 at The Driskill Hotel in Austin. Retired NCUA IT veteran Joseph Visconti will moderate the regulatory compliance program. Other topics at the three-day gathering will include third-party vendor security assurance and the coming requirements for all credit unions to implement two-factor authentication for Internet banking.
