OLYMPIA, Wash. – Washington State Employees Credit Union members and employees have donated more than $13,000 to benefit three disaster relief organizations established in response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. “The response was so immediate and so generous,” said WSECU Vice-President of Public Relations Ann Flannigan. “People wanted to feel as though they could help in some small way after seeing the extraordinary images of destruction on television and in the newspapers.” WSECU’s donations will support the Alabama Governor’s Emergency Relief Fund, the Mississippi Hurricane Relief Fund and the Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation equally. WSECU has also made a separate donation to the Washington Credit Union Foundation to help peer credit unions in the Gulf Coast region affected by the storm and its aftermath re-establish business.
