SAN DIEGO – Sharp Credit Union, a division of Cabrillo Credit Union, has offered to automatically open accounts for nurses temporarily relocated and employed with Sharp Hospital due to Hurricane Katrina. In addition to opening accounts, the credit union is establishing direct deposit for the displaced nurses and offering its full range of products and services available to the general membership. "It is with great pleasure that we welcome these professionals to America's Finest City," said Sharp CU CEO Joann Gibson. "Should [they] choose to make San Diego [their] permanent home, we would be more than happy to extend long-term services. We are glad that we could be of service to these people." In addition to these efforts, Cabrillo CU, Carlsbad City CU and Sharp CU have made donating to the American Red Cross easy via Web site links, Home Banking transfers, and jars at teller stations.
