WARRENVILLE, Ill. -Mid-States Corporate Federal Credit Union has adopted The New Orleans Firemen's Federal Credit Union as part of its hurricane relief efforts. The $4.5 billion corporate will provide financial assistance to the credit union and employees and their families devastated by hurricane Rita. It will make a $10,000 contribution and will match employee contributions up to $10,000. “Knowing that someone who does not even know you has taken it upon themselves to help is true proof that the `people helping people' philosophy that we try to live by is alive and well today,” said NOFFCU CEO Judy S. DeLucca. “The words `thank you' do not seem enough, but they are heart felt. Thank you for each of my employees whose lives you will touch.” Many NOFFCU employees' homes were damaged by the hurricane and are still uninhabitable. Some employees are currently living at NOFFCU branches. Mid-States also collected canned goods and non-perishable food items, and donated laptop computers to the Louisiana Credit Union League. Mid-States has also started its “Adopt the Kids” Christmas project, which the corporate has already begun implementing for the NOFFCU families. Mid-States will collect children's wish lists for the holidays and work with NOFFCU to fulfill the lists.
