Global Credit Union, Spokane, Wash., has named Human Resources Administrator Monica Gyarfas the Dominic Allessio Employee of the Quarter. Nominated and selected by her peers, Gyarfas was recognized for her job efficiency, excellent work ethic and professionalism. Dedicated to the credit union for 18 years, she is also a member of the Society for Human Resource Management. Advantage One Federal Credit Union, Youth Representative and active member in the Family Involvement Council Lara Kobryzcki has been presented with the Class Act Award during the 2005 Michigan Credit Union League Youth Summit. The award recognizes financial literacy educators for outreach, innovative teaching styles and unique classroom partnerships. The credit union as a whole was honored with the `Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award', which recognizes financial literacy outreach programs. Advantage One FCU has reached hundreds of area students over the past year, offering financial literacy programs to local elementary, jr. high and high schools. Programs range from hands on classroom presentations and workshops, to student run credit unions. John Deere Community Credit Union, Waterloo, Iowa, has earned several awards in the annual "Best of the Best" contest conducted by the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Courier. Community members voted online for the businesses they believe are the best in each industry. JDCCU received first place in the Best Credit Union category and ranked number 11 out of the top 25 Cedar Valley employers. In addition, Senior Loan Officer Mike Mangin received first place for the Best Teller Award. Robins Federal Credit Union, Warner Robins, Ga., has named George Robinson the winner of its Credit Union Political Action Committee (CUPAC) raffle for a $1,000 of free gas. A total of $4,816 was raised. The proceeds from the raffle will benefit CUPAC whose goals are to help ensure that the credit union side of the story is being heard by elected leaders and to promote the election of pro-credit union candidates to Congress. Tampa Bay Federal Credit Union, Tampa, Fla., CEO Dale Schumacher has been named Small Business of the Leader of the Year by the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce. This was the second year in a row Dale was nominated for the prestigious, "Small Bigness" award. In addition, Tampa Bay Federal Credit Union itself was also a semi-finalist in the Small Business of the Year awards. Ent Federal Credit Union, Colorado Springs, Colo., has been honored by the Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado during its 11th annual Excellence In Customer Service (EICS) awards ceremony. The credit union was one of only four southern Colorado-based companies to receive this prestigious award and the only financial services provider to win in the Award's history. Each year, the Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado recognizes area businesses that have demonstrated outstanding customer service practices, while building relationships that foster and maintain a positive client base. Criteria for selection were based on how effectively a company performs the following: collecting customer service data, analyzing data, action on data, customer service and market focus, employee involvement and empowerment. Point Loma Credit Union, San Diego, has named Howard Payne the winner of its membership referral campaign. A PLCU member for over 19 years, Payne was selected in a random drawing contest as the grand prizewinner of a seven-day, all-expenses paid cruise for two to Alaska. Selected from over 630 entries, Payne was automatically entered into the contest when he referred his friend, Robert Hatfield to PLCU. Hatfield also received an individual prize of a seven-day, all-expenses paid cruise for two. Additionally, both Hatfield and Payne received $25 deposited into their accounts for the membership referral portion of the promotion.
