WASHINGTON – Fee income per member continues to be a strong driving force for credit unions. As of June 30, Callahan reports that the average fee income per member was $61 according to data gathered from 9,063 credit unions. Year-to-date, the top 50 credit unions here have generated more than $2.6 billion in fee income. Taking a look at the top 50 credit unions in fee income per member, the range is anywhere from $142 to $301. The listing also reveals that asset size does not necessarily correlate with the amount of fee income per member. At $147 million, High Desert Credit Union is certainly not the largest CU but it earned the top spot at $301 per member. America First Credit Union tops the list on fee income year-to-date at more than $27 million total.
