"Credit Unions: People Helping People". This slogan used by credit unions throughout the country is a true representation of what took place at one of Irving's local credit unions. Las Colinas Federal Credit Union opened its doors to NechesHuntsman FCU during the Hurricane Rita evacuation from the Southeast Texas Gulf Coast Region October 22, 2005. Las Colinas Federal Credit Union's CEO Craig Hurst welcomed NechesHuntsman FCU to their location in Irving, Texas. Craig's leadership and managerial skills are an asset to Las Colinas FCU. He provided NechesHuntsman FCU with a disaster recovery site that included plenty of office space, telephone lines and a courteous staff to assist our team in setting up operations. The NechesHuntsman FCU Board of Directors, Management Team and Staff are forever indebted to the Las Colinas Board of Directors, Craig Hurst and their staff for their support during our one-week stay. During that time, NechesHuntsman FCU team members were able to provide our members service with very little disruption and inconvenience. Our most important goal during this challenging period was to provide service to our members. We can say `mission accomplished.' We stand strong as credit unions continue to support one another while we keep in mind the reason for being here. Together we are "People Helping People."
