WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – NCUA's failure to get its disclosure argument to stick legally in the Community and OmniAmerican case may lead to more conversions, according to Credit Union Times' voting poll results. NCUA and the credit unions went to court after NCUA invalidated their conversion votes due to what it deemed improper placement of NCUA's rebuttal in the CUs' disclosure documents. NCUA lost the legal fight. One of the key problems, was the agency did not document agreements made with the CUs. Credit Union Times asked just what impact there would be from the case. The question and results are as follows: What do you think is most likely to happen because of the NCUA/Community /OmniAmerican conversion battle? * It will lead to more CU-to-bank conversions – 161 votes * It will force NCUA to tighten up its conversion regulations – 65 votes * More credit unions will pass bylaws to try and deter future boards from converting – 63 votes * Credit union leagues and associations will become more active in informing members about the ramifications of converting to a bank – 83 votes * All of the above – 161 votes * None of the above – 32 votes Total Votes: 565
