Palisades Federal Credit Union, Pearl River, N.Y., has successfully raised funds during the COBA Annual Golf Outing and Fundraising Event held at the Philip J. Rotella Municipal Golf Course in Thiells, New York. Funds raised by this annual event provide scholarship support to deserving Rockland County youth pursuing higher education. COBA is a partner with Palisades FCU. Monroe County Community Credit Union, Monroe, Mich., has teamed up with Monroe Automotive Credit Union, and Education Plus Credit Union to help refill the blood bank supplies of the American Red Cross. Some 25 donors rolled up their sleeves resulting in a total donation of 21 pints of much needed blood. Air Academy Federal Credit Union, Colorado Springs, Colo., has raised over $15,500 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and was named the largest corporate walk team with 116 registered walkers. AAFCU raised $4,786 from paper shoe sales and collected over $10,600 from walker pledges. All proceeds were donated to the JDRF to fund important research that will hopefully lead to a cure. University Federal Credit Union, Birmingham, Ala., has raised over $10,300 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through its annual Light the Night Walk. The donation was comprised of two parts- a UFCU $5,000 donation and the remainder from member donations and employee fundraising, including cookie sales, lunch sales, and candy sales. Kent County Credit Union, Grand Rapids, Mich., has supplied photo I.D. kits and fingerprint kits to a local neighborhood association for the annual Celebration in the Park. KCCU staffers volunteered their time to man the safety booth at the event and taking children's photos and fingerprints for the Kid Care ID kits that were then given to the parents. Black Hills Federal Credit Union, Rapid City, S.D., has helped donate over 31,000 schools supplies to local schools as part of the "Load the Bus" campaign. Supplies were distributed to 30 schools and some 2,900 students. Distributing the supplies among more than one hundred boxes slated for the schools took three days, five staff members and several tally sheets to complete.
