BestSource Credit Union, Waterford, Mich., has raised $3,800 during the annual Hunger Walk. Lighthouse of Oakland County, Inc. honored the credit union as the top fundraising team. A total of 1,100 walkers raised $60,000 for the event. Lighthouse of Oakland County oversees three separate agencies that provide emergency food and shelter, rent payments so families won't get evicted and rides to the doctor for seniors. St. Mary's Bank, Manchester, N.H., has donated $10,000 to Easter Seals. The donated funds will go toward repairing damage caused by the flooding of the Easter Seals Manchester, New Hampshire facility. PSE Credit Union, Parma, Ohio, employees have raised over $5,100 to donate to the American Cancer Society's Parma Relay For Life! The "PSE Winners" not only raised money by holding bakes sales, kids fun fairs and spare change collections, but nine team members helped break the Guinness Book of World Records by dressing as Elvis Presley and singing a three-minute long rendition of "Viva Las Vegas." Some 106 Elvis impersonators lined the relay track and sang the famous tune breaking the last world record set in London with a mere 77 "Elvi." The Massillon Area Credit Union, Ohio, has donated eight computer monitors to the Community Services of Stark County, Inc. The computer equipment will assist the organization in providing their programs to help residents in their time of need. The Community Services of Stark County, Inc. has been giving hope to the residents of Stark County since 1919 by offering counseling, maternity/adoption/parenting services, community and school outreach programs, pyramid training services, rape crisis and sexual assault services. Pawtucket Credit Union, R.I., has raised $10,000 to benefit The Tomorrow Fund. The Tomorrow Fund offers financial and emotional support for children with cancer and their families throughout Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. Today, more than 90% of children with cancer in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts are treated in The Tomorrow Fund Clinic at Hasbro Children's Hospital. Citadel Federal Credit Union, Thorndale, Pa., has recently donated 35 backpacks for the children of CVIM. CVIM, or Community Volunteers In Medicine, is a nonprofit organization helping the working poor of Chester County with medical care. The backpacks were donated by Citadel to supply less fortunate families with school supplies for the back to school season. Each backpack contained supplies such as notebooks, a binder, folders, pencils, pens, markers, tape, highlighters, glue, scissors, colored pencils, a stapler, a ruler, and a lock.
