ORLANDO, Fla. – CFE Federal Credit Union has donated $100,000 to support the American Red Cross relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The credit union's concern for the many thousands affected by the disaster included the more than 150 CFE FCU members who live in the devastated area. "In the credit union tradition of people helping people, CFE wants to provide as many people as possible with food, shelter, medical care and other critical assistance they desperately need," said CFE FCU President/CEO Joseph A. Melbourne, Jr. In addition, CFE FCU has established a special Hurricane Katrina Disaster Fund to accept donations from members, employees, and the public at large. To date nearly $8,000 has been donated. Funds collected through CFE FCU branches will be forwarded to the Central Florida Chapter of the American Red Cross for the local Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund. This Fund helps provide services to evacuees who relocate to the Central Florida area.
