ST. LOUIS – First Community Credit Union has recently donated over $46,000 to the American Red Cross' National Disaster Fund for Hurricane Katrina relief. In just seven days members donated over $20,000 at branch donation sites, with First Community matching 100% of the donations. First Community employees also donated to help the hurricane relief effort. Out of 260 employees, 86% donated money from their paychecks in an effort to raise money for those who were affected by the hurricane. Employees raised over $2,900, with the over $1 billion CU 100% match. "The employees and managers of First Community wanted to reach out to the thousands of victims whose lives were changed by Hurricane Katrina," said First Community President/CEO Glenn Barks. Funds raised will go towards clothing, food, housing and medical assistance for Gulf Coast residents.
