Security Service Federal Credit Union, San Antonio, staffers have donated their time, sweat and muscle to help the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department beautify the city's historic Woodlawn Lake during the annual United Way Day of Caring campaign. SSFCU employees spent an entire day planting flowers and mulching trees around the Lake's community center facility. NuMark Credit Union, Joliet, Ill., has raised $22,368.21 for the annual American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Under the inspirional leadership of NuMark CU Card Services Supervisor Pam Sumner, over the past three years the credit union has successfully raised over $72,000 for the American Cancer Society. Staffers and members supported the Relay For Life over the course of the year by publishing and selling over 300 cookbooks with employee recipes, refurbishing and re-selling computers, employee payroll deductions, the sale of hundreds of Relay Ribbon Magnets, and the sponsorship of over 135 Luminaries. Kinecta Federal Credit Union, Manhattan Beach, Calif., has raised over $5,500 for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Fundraisers were varied and included a Roving Bake Sale where staffers would go cubicle to cubicle to sell some tasty treats for a good cause. T&C Federal Credit Union, Bloomfield Hills, Mich., raised a total of $12,384.71 for the American Cancer Society. Some 63 T&C FCU volunteers donated their time to participate in the Relay for Life event. Funds were raised through creative fundraising efforts such as a cookbook, bracelets, candy, specialty baskets, baked goods, sandwiches, star and moon signs, luminaries, car washes, change canisters, and donations. All proceeds will go toward finding a cure for cancer. Xerox Federal Credit Union, Rochester, N.Y., has donated $12,000 to the Seneca Park Zoo Society. Funds were raised through the credit union's Swing for the Zoo golf tournament. Xerox FCU was recently honored by the New York State Credit Union League with the Dora Maxwell Award for Social Responsibility for its work with the Seneca Park Zoo. The Seneca Park Zoo Society is a not-for-profit organization, chartered by the Department of Education of the State of New York to provide education, public relations, fund raising, and member and visitor services at the Seneca Park Zoo. Credit Union of Ohio, Columbus, has recently kicked off its Children's Miracle Network fundraiser with a hot dog cookout. In addition all five branches have sold CMN Balloons and the credit union has teamed up with OSU Medical Center vendors, Cheryl's Cookies and Espress Oasis, to raise even more money.
