FORT WORTH, Texas – To support the ongoing efforts to help those who are still recovering from Hurricane Katrina, American Airlines FCU has now contributed $400,000 to that effort. The $4 billion CU said the $400,000 amount included member contributions and a CU donation of $100,000. On Tuesday, September 20, John Tippets, president/CEO of American Airlines FCU and David Campbell, CU board member and vice president alliance and Kansas City Base Maintenance, American Airlines, presented a check for $400,000 to Robert P. McDonald, Chief Financial Officer of the American Red Cross. "Credit unions have a long standing history of helping their communities and supporting charitable activities," Tippets said. "And I could not be more proud of our members' quick and overwhelming response of help to these current, very critical needs." Donations to the CU's American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Efforts will be accepted throughout the remainder of the year, according to the CU. The $4 billion CU is also assisting members by providing loan payment deferrals, by helping resolve issues related to loans on vehicles or homes that were damaged or lost, and by offering fee refunds such as ATM surcharge fees, ATM/VISA Check Card reorder fees, NSF fees, and traveler check fees.
