In a city as diverse as San Francisco there is a lot more to do than riding cable cars or heading over to Alcatraz. Credit Union Times has asked a few locals what are a few "must see" and "must experience" attractions beyond the standard touristy spots. Find out just why so many "leave their hearts" in San Francisco with these tips from people in the know: This is a great time to visit the city. No trip to San Francisco would be complete without attending the San Francisco Blues Festival at Fort Mason Sept 24-25. Located right next to the Bay the festival offers great music and lots of BBQ! Paula Brabant VP Card Services Patelco CU For a taste of authentic Chinese food then a trip to Henry's Hunan's is a must. The restaurant is right around the corner from our credit union between 2nd Street and New Montgomery and the food is fantastic. John Shields SVP Technology Patelco Credit Union There is so much to see and do here. Two new hot restaurants in town are Myth (at 470 Pacific) and Michael Mina (in the Westin St. Francis at 335 Powell Street. (Reservations are a must.) If you want to find the best views while dancing -it's the top of the Mark Hopkins Hotel and the Starlight Room at the top of Sir Francis Drake. For jazz you can't beat BIX (56 Gold) and Shanghai 1930 (133 Steuart). As for a few destinations don't miss a visit to the Marina District, Chestnut Street or Filmore Street. Anita Macias SVP Corporate Planning/Communications Patelco CU Be sure to visit the Marin headlands to see the beauty of the whole city. Sometimes you get caught up in all the great restaurants, activities and attractions that even long time residents forget just how beautiful the city itself is. Just a short drive across the Golden Gate bridge to the Marin side and you will find an old army fort on top of a hill with a million-dollar view. There you will be able to see why people "leave their hearts in San Francisco." Michael Rokovich Marketing Specialist San Francisco FCU No trip here is complete with out seeing the show "Beach Blanket Babylon". It has been running for over 30 years here in San Francisco and has played at Club Fugazi (it started out as street performances) for at least the last 25 years located in North Beach. The show changes constantly based on what is happening in today's events. They spoof everyone from Madonna to George W. Bush to anyone or anything else in the media and feature the most ornate hats I've ever seen. It is a show that appeals to all and I guarantee you will leave with sore cheeks from laughing so hard! Warren I. Alderson Service Center Manager San Francisco FCU If you are headed to San Francisco then you have to visit La Taqueria at 2889 Mission St. (at 25th Street) – easily the best Mexican food restaurant here! For a great, quick bite, this is the restaurant for you and the food is fresh and authentic. A popular restaurant among locals, it has been in San Francisco Chronicle's annual list of Top 100 Restaurants in the Bay area for the past six years! Elaine Lee Senior Marketing Specialist San Francisco FCU There's a lot to do here. Try Original Joe's on Taylor Street for lunch it is a tough neighborhood but good eats! Drinks or dinner at the Cliff House at sunset (if the fog ever lifts) is another must. Don't forget to take a Cable Car ride to Hyde Street Pier and then enjoy an Irish Coffee at the Buena Vista. A ferryboat ride to Sausalito or Tiburon for lunch – hopefully on a nice, sunny day and it is also nice to go for a walk across the Golden Gate Bridge.
