CUPERTINO, Calif.- If you don't patch, watch out. WesCorp has selected Blue Lane Technologies Inc., to help protect its business-critical infrastructure from the risks of unpatched software vulnerabilities and the associated potential for operational downtime resulting from vendor patches. WesCorp will be using the firm's The PatchPoint System. "When patches that affect critical infrastructure are released by vendors to mitigate vulnerabilities, often the risks associated with the rapid deployment of patches actually outweighs the potential risk of exploit by the perceived threats. Patch immediately and you risk impacting your infrastructure because of a lack of testing. Patch later and you risk being exploited. This is an untenable risk management scenario," said Christofer Hoff, CISO at WesCorp. Hoff said WesCorp chose Blue Lane because it solves the patching dilemma. Instead of rapidly deploying critical patches directly on servers without the appropriate time needed to test and which often cannot be successfully recovered or restored if there is an unforeseen issue, WesCorp can simply point, click and apply the same mitigation action at the network level. "The results are phenomenal; we are secure, there is no perceived difference in our customers' experience, and we are free to then appropriately test and plan for deploying the vendor-sourced patches on our timetable, not an attacker's," he said. Founded in 2002, Blue Lane is headquartered in Cupertino, California. For more information, contact the company at www.bluelane.com.
