INDIANAPOLIS – Representatives from credit unions around the state came together last month at FORUM CU to present Congressman Dan Burton (R-5) with a framed resolution of thanks for his long-standing support of credit unions. Burton was one of the original co-sponsors of H.R. 1151, the Credit Union Membership Access Act, the House version of bankruptcy reform, and CURIA. Burton has been a friend of Indiana's credit unions since his days in the Indiana State Senate (1969-70 and 1981-82) and the Indiana House of Representatives (1967-68 and 1977-80), as well as since he's served in Congress since 1983. He was named Outstanding Hoosier Legislator by the Indiana Credit Union League in 1991 and 1998.
