COSTA MESA, Calif. - Other findings from Experian's study ofsmall business owners' credit scores were revealing. Their averageincome is $71,690, 21% higher than the average U.S. income,Experian found. Sixty-nine percent of them are more likely to livein affluent suburbs. The study also showed that small businessowners are 53% more likely to live in the Pacific time zone. At51%, Asians are more likely than other people to own their ownbusinesses, according to the study. Compared to the generalpopulation, small business owners are 50% more likely to buy itemsthrough mail order while 54% prefer e-mailed communication. Lookingat a number of industries, Experian also found that those in theservices industry are 73% more likely to be receptive to e-mailwith 69% small business owners in finance, insurance and realestate industries just as receptive, the study found. Overall,small business owners tend to make more charitable donations thanpeople who do not own a business. Interestingly, those in themining industry were most likely to make political and religiouscontributions, Experian discovered.
