CALABASAS, Calif. – Digital Insight will be offering its client credit unions and banks the ability to offer their online users extra protection against account hijacking by deploying multi-factor authentication technology from TriCipher Inc. The base system from San Mateo-based TriCipher (www.tricipher.com) stores an additional factor of identity authentication on the individual user's PC, adding another level beyond the typical password and PIN. Financial institutions also can choose, based on applications and user risk, to add other layers of authentication that can include challenge questions, temporary pass codes, downloadable software and USB memory tokens. "We have worked with Digital Insight to develop a customizable solution that meets the specific needs of their customers, and believe this partnership will provide significant, user-friendly protection to their clients and end users," says TriCipher CEO Ravi Ganesan, former vice chairman of Checkfree Corp. Scott Mackelprang, vice president of security and compliance for Digital Insight (www.digitalinsight.com), says, "The multi-factor authentication solution we have chosen can significantly reduce the threat of current online concerns such as phishing, pharming and other unauthorized user attacks, while still providing scalability to address the potential security concerns of tomorrow."
