SHREVEPORT, La. – Bob Harvey, president/CEO of $422 million Seattle Metropolitan CU, has been elected as the new chairman of the African-American Credit Union Coalition. Harvey succeeds Helen Godfrey-Smith, who will continue to serve on the AACUC Board. First elected to the board in 2002, Harvey served as the AACUC's vice chair during the past year. The AACUC also elected the following new officers: Barbara Stephens, president/CEO of Houston Municipal Employees FCU, was chosen to serve as vice chair; Hubert Hoosman, president/CEO of Vantage CU, was selected to serve as treasurer; and Bert Hash, president/CEO of Municipal Employees CU, was re-elected to the position of board secretary. Other AACUC directors include Michael Hale, president/CEO of Andrews FCU; Lynda McDaniel, vice president of membership for Navy FCU; Sheilah Montgomery, president/CEO of 1st Choice CU; and Leroy Nesbit Jr., DORT FCU board secretary. Of her successor, Godfrey-Smith said "Bob brings a wealth of leadership experience and organizational development experience which can only propel the Coalition to be more effective in carrying out its mission."
