These are just a few of Dias' personal achievements as well as successful efforts he initiated at PTCU during his tenure: *Under Dias' leadership, PTCU's assets grew from $792 million in 1997 to $2 billion and loans grew from $586 million to $1.9 billion as of August 2005. *Dias received the "My Boss is a Patriot" Award, after being nominated by a PTCU employee/Army Reservist deployed to the Middle East. The U.S. Defense Department's award recognizes employers for their support of National Guard and Reserve members. Dias was recognized for his support in keeping this employee's benefits and pay intact during his overseas deployment. *Dias established the "Homeroom" and "Just for Starters" loan programs. The Homeroom first mortgage loan offered exclusively for PTCU members who are school teachers, makes it affordable for school teachers to own their own homes and requires no down payment, no mortgage insurance, lower starting rates, flexible terms, and optional financing for closing costs. "Just for Starters" loan programs are for first-time homebuyers and include 100% financing with a fixed rate for the first three years, no mortgage insurance, and attractive starting interest rates. * Dias was named board chair, and served as mentor for Hacienda Community Credit Union from the outset. Dias' personal involvement, guidance and mentoring helped to launch the first new credit union chartered in the State of Oregon in over 20 years. Hacienda Community Credit Union focused on serving low-income Latino families who lacked access to conventional financial services. *PTCU introduced a new Payday Advantage Loan that offers members a fast, easy alternative with lower interest rates to loans offered through traditional payday loan outlets. Aimed at people facing unexpected expenses, Payday Advantage Loans enable PTCU members to borrow up to 20% of their next paycheck with a maximum of $600 per loan. PTCU charges no loan application fee, offers free credit counseling, and cash is made available to members immediately. *PTCU was recognized as one of the Portland Metro area's Best Lenders by the National Community Reinvestment Coalition in their America's Best and Worst Lenders: a Consumers' Guide to Lending in 25 Metropolitan Areas. The list is a comprehensive ranking of lending institutions in 25 metropolitan areas based on the percentage of home purchase and refinance loans made to minorities, women and low- and moderate-income borrowers and neighborhoods. * Dias created a Community Relations Committee to direct a Community Relations Plan for donations and contributions. The key focus of the plan is to help empower people to improve the quality of their lives. Contributions or program support are made to local agencies including. *PTCU is a three-time winner of the "Best Practices Award for the $1 to $3 Billion" asset category by Credit Union Direct Lending. PTCU was recognized for its efforts in marketing, cross selling of additional loan and deposit products, and overall auto loan volume three years in a row.
