TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Credit Union 24, the credit-union owned ATM and POS network that is headquartered in Florida, reported this month that its cardholders used their ATM/debit cards more in the month of July 2005 than they had in any previous month in the history of the ATM and EFT network. The network announced that it handled 17 million EFT transactions in July, a 40% increase over July 2004. The network attributed the increase not only to transactions at which cardholders used a personal identification number to validate their transactions at the point of sale, but also to a 30% jump in ATM activity over one year before. "The month of July shows us that we're able to carry forward the momentum from last year's remarkable growth," said Credit Union 24 CEO Jim Park. "We've already seen over 25 million more transactions on the network than we did last year at this time, and we expect more record-setting months ahead." Credit Union 24 has 23 processor links, hundreds of thousands of POS terminals and more than 85,000 ATM locations across the country, according to its latest statistics.
