FORT COLLINS, Colo. - G. Charles "Chuck" Mabry, president/CEO,Norlarco CU promised his board when he decided to retire he'd givethem one year's notice - and he has kept that promise. The 64-yearold Mabry has announced his plans to retire June 30,2006.Previously employed in executive capacities with Fort Collins-basedprivate and public sector companies, Mabry has been president/CEOof Norlarco since January 1998 - he succeeded Ray Swanson - and hashelped the CU reach several important milestones since then. He'staken the CU from being a $132 million financial with 30,000members to the eighth largest in the state with $330 million inassets and 50,000 members. During his tenure with Norlarco, the CUopened branches in Loveland and north Fort Collins, built a newbranch on Research Boulevard, and converted the former ResearchBoulevard branch into a corporate office and operations center. In2003, Norlarco merged with Front Range FCU, Windsor, and thatopened up Norlarco's field-of-membership to include that communityand western Weld County. In 2004 the CU expanded its communitycharter to include all of Larimer County. In addition to hisresponsibilities with Norlarco, Mabry has also been active inseveral volunteer activities. He is currently chairman of theColorado Credit Union League, and has served on the Fort CollinsCity County, been a member of the Platte River Power AuthorityBoard, Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce and the NorthernColorado Legislative Alliance. He also served two years as chairmanof the State Board of Agriculture. Norlarco Chairman John Olienyksaid the CU plans to form a search committee to find a newpresident/CEO and "will work toward a smooth transition to newleadership." Mabry was traveling and unavailable for comment atpress time, but a Norlarco spokesperson said he and his wife Marcia"have a tremendous amount of energy and like to travel. I'm surethey'll both spend a lot of time with their four children and justenjoying themselves."
