MADISON, Wis. – Other than CUNA Mutual Group, there’s arguably no vendor with so much invested in the credit union industry than Fiserv, and its commitment just went a little deeper. Fiserv, which has seven core processing subsidiaries focused on CUs and over 3,000 core CU clients, has pledged $250,000 to the Filene Research Institute. This makes Fiserv part of Filene’s Chairman’s Roundtable, which is open to organizations that provide grants of $250,000 over a three-year period. Fiserv’s grant will be geared at research focusing on future growth opportunities and challenges for credit unions. “We get approached by a lot of different organizations, and they’re all probably really good causes. We just felt that the research coming out of the Institute helps credit unions. They have enough challenges with consolidation going on, conversion to different institutions, and the whole deal about HSAs,” said Tom Neil, head of Fiserv’s credit union division. Fiserv and Filene are also right down the road from each other, said Neil, so there will be a lot of on-site work going on. Filene Executive Director Bob Hoel said Fiserv is the second organization to join the Chairman’s Roundtable. The other is PSCU.
