Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., has taken home the grand prize in the first annual Beacon Hat Parade. Sponsored by the Beacon Arts Community Association, the parade was created to celebrate Beacon's heritage as the hat making capital of the Northeast. Some HVFCU employees spent about 40 hours to create the award-winning hat, as a tribute to savings growth. HVFCU employee Kundi Glasson wore the hat along the parade route through hundreds of cheering fans. Day Air Credit Union, Kettering, Ohio, 60 years here in the community has been honored by the City of Kettering. The city has proclaimed a Day Air Credit Union Day. To celebrate the credit union hosted a "Sixty & Soaring" celebration complete with a life-size "Cash Cube" with "soaring" money. All money claimed was donated to the Children's Medical Center. Georgia Credit Union Affiliates, Duluth, some17 representatives from eight Georgia credit unions recently participated in the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the People to People Partnership in Krakow, Poland. Established in 1995 for the benefit of the Poland and Georgia credit union movements, the Polish Partnership focuses on developing new products and services, direct training for leaders of new Polish credit unions, sharing information and expertise, funding special projects, providing technical assistance and participating in exchange visits. Thirteen Georgia credit unions have participated in the program since its inception. Cabrillo Credit Union, San Diego, has celebrated its 50th anniversary by offering members prizes of cash or gift certificates through a variety of monthly events. Events ranged from an opportunity to pick from 50 envelopes with different denominations of cash ranging from $1 bills to $100 to a "Cup Runneth Over" in which the branches each had 50 tumbler cups with the credit union's 50th anniversary logo filled with candy. Two of the 50 cups also had a $50 Home Depot gift card hidden inside the candy. Co-op Services Credit Union, Livonia, Mich., is not only celebrating its 50th year anniversary but is also recognizing some 25 years of service in the Westland community. To commemorate both anniversaries the credit union has invited members to enter a drawing for a 42-inch plasma television that will be awarded on the credit union's official anniversary of November 30, 2005.
