GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Lake Michigan Credit Union (www.lmcu.org) is set to consolidate its loan portfolio and centralize loss-prevention information with a new browser-based overdue account collection system from Canada's Guthrie Phillips Group (GPG). The TopNotch solution from Vancouver, B.C.-based GPG (www.guthriephillipsgroup.com) will integrate with $1.1 billion Lake Michigan CU's Symitar Episys platform to enhance efficiency in member collections, according to Bruce Carlson, the CU's director of loss prevention. "This technology will allow us to merge our members' accounts that are running delinquent," Carlson says. "That will provide us with more options that will help us better manage delinquencies, thereby reducing delinquencies. That's the bottom line, helping our members who may be in financial distress." The collections software also will work in concert with a new queue structure that can direct members to a CU counselor who can immediately help them, Carlson says.
