ONTARIO, Calif. - Five years ago Salt Lake City Airport, the 26th largest in the country, rid itself of banking ATMs in favor of ATMs placed by credit unions affiliated with the credit union owned, surcharge free, CO-OP Network. At press time the airport has signed another five-year agreement to continue the arrangement. The four credit unions - the $4 billion American Airline Employees FCU, the $2.7 billion Delta Employees Credit Union, the $2.5 billion Western FCU and the $1.5 billion Mountain America CU - have significant national reach and/or members with ties to airlines and staff serving the airport. "The credit union industry is founded upon the spirit of cooperation, so it's gratifying when our collective efforts are rewarded," said Rick Foley, President and CEO, Delta Employees Credit Union. "One of the reasons we originally became a CO-OP Network member more than five years ago was their allegiance to the cooperative spirit of the credit union movement. As our joint venture in Salt Lake shows, the industry benefits when credit unions work together. And so do all of our ATM cardholders."
