ONTARIO, Calif. - Five years ago Salt Lake City Airport, the26th largest in the country, rid itself of banking ATMs in favor ofATMs placed by credit unions affiliated with the credit unionowned, surcharge free, CO-OP Network. At press time the airport hassigned another five-year agreement to continue the arrangement. Thefour credit unions - the $4 billion American Airline Employees FCU,the $2.7 billion Delta Employees Credit Union, the $2.5 billionWestern FCU and the $1.5 billion Mountain America CU - havesignificant national reach and/or members with ties to airlines andstaff serving the airport. "The credit union industry is foundedupon the spirit of cooperation, so it's gratifying when ourcollective efforts are rewarded," said Rick Foley, President andCEO, Delta Employees Credit Union. "One of the reasons weoriginally became a CO-OP Network member more than five years agowas their allegiance to the cooperative spirit of the credit unionmovement. As our joint venture in Salt Lake shows, the industrybenefits when credit unions work together. And so do all of our ATMcardholders."
