TREVOSE, Pa. and Kent, Ohio -The credit union industry's political profile has blossomed in recent years, and there's no better indication of how strong it has become than the solid relationships many credit unions and credit union organizations now have with lawmakers. Take TruMark Credit Union for example. At the CU's board meeting, U.S. Rep Michael Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) attended as a quest speaker. Fitzpatrick talked about the role CUs play in society and discussed current issues in the Greater Philadelphia area. A prominent legislator also took time to stop by Kent Credit Union's Board meeting. State Representative Mary Taylor (R) (pictured here reviewing the agenda with Kent CU CEO Rose Bartolomucci) joined the board for an open dialogue session regarding current issues in the credit union industry, in particular HB 81 and credit union tax exemption. Also joining Rep. Taylor for this discussion were John Florian, COO of the Ohio Credit Union League in Columbus, Ohio and Bartolomucci, who facilitated the educational forum. Other guests included Pete Grimm, CEO of Medina County FCU; Sue Preston, CEO of Buckeye State CU; and Gary Soukenik, CEO of Seven Seventeen CU.
