WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Often times the "credit union" person on the NCUA Board becomes a popular figure in the industry. This is someone people can relate with because of their credit union experience. Dennis Dollar, a former CU CEO, was one of the most admired NCUA Board members in some time. Many credit Dollar's experience at credit unions as the driver for the type of proposals and the style of regulation he imprinted on NCUA during his tenure. Current regulations only permit one person with credit union experience to serve on the NCUA Board. Should this be changed as CUNA has asked Congress to consider? According to respondents of Credit Union Times' expired online voting poll, the answer is a resounding yes. The question and results are as follows: Current regulations aside, ideally, how many members of the three-person NCUA Board should have credit union experience? * None…………..5.12% * One…………..12.94% * Two…………..27.17% * All three……51.35% * Not sure……..3.41% Total Votes: 703 (Editor's note: Have more to say on this topic?
