BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. – T&C Federal Credit Union has helped keep music programs alive for kids here. The credit union was recently a corporate sponsor for the Metro-Michigan Scholastic Jazz Band Competition at Pontiac's Phoenix Center Amphitheatre. The competition featured five high school jazz bands throughout Michigan and attracted an audience of 500. The bands competed for monetary prizes, including a T&C FCU $1,000 donation to help support their school's band program. Pontiac Northern High School won $3,000 for first place, Detroit's Frank Cody High School won $2,000 for second place, and West Branch's Ogemaw Heights High School won $1,000 for third place. A $500 scholarship was also presented to the best soloist of the competition, which went to trumpeter, Jamar Williams, a graduating senior from Pontiac Northern High School. "T&C is committed to helping students reach their full potential," said T&C FCU Vice President of Marketing Lon Bone. After the competition, each band received a 20-minute clinic administered by one of the adjudicators, and the audience was treated to an evening of jazz by Quincy Stewart, Charles Anthony and the Metro-Detroit All Stars Big Band.
