NEENAH, Wis. - Kim Services CU and Lakeview CU have shared a common history for nearly history - they're both tied to Kimberly-Clark Corp. - and now that history is behind Kim Services' decision to select Lakeview as its merger partner. A majority of Kim Services CU members who gathered for a special membership meeting June 23 voted to approve their board's recommendation to merge with the $56 million Lakeview. According to Kim Services the $4.6 million credit union is sound financially, but it was faced with several major issues such as future staffing with the impending retirements of key employees, and shrinking potential for new members. It has about 870 members. Kim Services CU was chartered in October 1947 to provide financial services to Kimberly-Clark employees and their families. Lakeview CU was chartered in 1934 to provide financial services to employees of Kimberly-Clark's Lakeview mill and their families. The CU now has a community charter. Lakeview currently has 7,000 members.
