WASHINGTON-The Hill, a major Capitol Hill newspaper, recently spotlighted banking and credit union lobbyists in its Lobby League feature. CUNA is referred to as "credit unions' top association." Regarding CUNA Senior Vice President of Governmental Affairs John McKechnie, the article read: McKechnie's personality won the allegiance of a new lobbyist on the scene, who said, "He's just kept me informed and always made sure I was included." One colleague described CUNA Vice President of Legislative Affairs and Senior Legislative Counsel Gary Kohn as "truly.a very smart, smart man." CUNA Legislative Affairs Manager Linda Gualtieri Haer is described as bringing "a solid record at Cassidy & Associates to CUNA." NAFCU Senior Vice President and General Counsel Bill Donovan also got a mention. According to the article, "Even his legislative opponents respect Donavan as a formidable force. "He understands we all have to work for the members we represent and it's not personal," one community-banking lobbyist said." NASCUS President and CEO Mary Martha Forney was noted. Also making the list were lobbyists for the American Bankers Association, America's Community Bankers, the Independent Community Bankers of America, and the Conference of State Bank Supervisors.
