COLUMBIA, S.C. – Lt. Gen. Garry L. Parks, president and CEO of the South Carolina Credit Union League and Affiliates, will not be the next president of The Citadel. Parks, a 35-year veteran who retired from the Marines as Deputy Commandant for Manpower and Reserve Affairs, was one of six finalists for the college presidency after being approached by his alma mater to consider the position. The job has instead gone to another Citadel alum, Lt. Gen. John W. Rosa Jr., currently superintendent of the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. Parks is a 1969 graduate of the historic state military college in Charleston. He was named to the League's top job last summer.
