ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Four credit unions have been named one of the 50 Best Small and Medium Companies to Work for in America. Walnut Creek, California-based Pacific Service CU stands out as the only credit union in the Small Companies category coming in eighth. In the Medium Companies category Liberty Lake, Washington-based Spokane Teachers CU ranked seventh; Marlborough, Massachusetts-based Digital Federal Credit Union ranked 13 and Chula Vista, California-based North Island CU ranked 21. Announced by the Society for Human Resource Management during the 57th Annual Conference & Exposition in San Diego, companies were selected and ranked by the Great Place to Work Institute (GPTW). Companies on this list are touted as being financially successful and providing generous salaries, benefits packages, employee ownership options and bonuses. According to GPTW, as a result, they have motivated employees at the top of their game – contributing to some of the most successful small businesses in their industries with high profit and low turnover. See page 34 for a related chart on credit unions and their compensation packages.
