PHILADELPHIA.- More than 100 kids of all ages-from three yearsold to probably 53 years old-helped raise $22,000 for children inneed by sliding into a 700-gallon pool of strawberry gelatin at the12th Annual Gelatin Olympics sponsored by American Heritage FCU onJune 15. Proceeds from the event support a music therapy programfor developmentally and physically disabled children at theChildren's Seashore House of the Children's Hospital ofPhiladelphia. In addition to the Ultimate Gelatin Slide, the day'sactivities included a Gelatin Pie Eating Contest and GelatinBalloon Toss. According to Bruce Foulke, president and CEO ofAmerican Heritage FCU, one of the highlights of the day was notonly seeing members of his own credit union take the gelatin plungebut also representatives from other nearby CUs who participated orsponsored sliders. “Credit union folks really came together to helpus out,” he said. Foulke also was grateful for good weather thathelped draw more than 300 total attendees. “Once you put down apool of gelatin, rain or shine you have to slide,” he said. Since1996, American Heritage through its Kids-N-Hope Foundation hasdonated more than $230,000 to the Children's Seashore House.
