LA HABRA, Calif. – American First Credit Union hopes to help teens and young adults get a head start on financial responsibility with the launch of its Start Smart Visar program. "Teaching young adults about the importance of financial responsibility is not only a service American First Credit Union provides, it is a responsibility we have to our community," said American First CU President/CEO Bob Street. With an emphasis on safely establishing good credit, the program helps young people obtain a Visa credit card and build credit slowly, with built-in safeguards to prevent overspending and misuse. Students between the ages of 18-22 years old who participate in the program will also learn about identity theft, credit card fraud and how to use credit wisely. In addition, as a reward for passing an online course about credit young cardholders can earn a $25 Visa credit and can qualify for a credit limit up to $750 with no co-signer requirements and a 14.99% APR.
