COLUMBIA, Md. – The Maryland Credit Union League and D. C. Credit Union League crossed an important threshold May 26 toward the merger of the two organizations. Both Leagues' boards approved the contract for the two leagues to merge and the creation of the Maryland and District of Columbia Credit Union Association. The contract that was approved lays out the legal provisions necessary to facilitate the merger and meet the requirements of the Maryland and District of Columbia corporation laws. When the contract is signed it will be filed with the appropriate Maryland and District of Columbia agencies. Ballots on the proposed merger will be mailed to affiliated credit unions of each league in early July.
