RALEIGH, N.C. -State Employees' Credit Union (SECU) lent a helping hand to this year's Kids Day Penny Jar Championship to benefit the WakeMed Children's Center. SECU worked with De la Rue Systems to provide a FAT CAT coin sorter, used to count and store the donated coins. Over $5,000 in pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters were collected during the Penny Jar Championship. SECU kids club mascot FAT CAT, was on hand to greet all the generous children during the event. "The credit union philosophy is `People Helping People,' and that is what WakeMed's `Kids Day' is all about," said SECU Senior Vice President of Education Services Leigh Brady. "The credit union and our employees are thrilled to give back to the community in which we live and work, and this event was a special one to be part of. The funds raised by the Penny Jar Challenge will go a long way to provide top-notch care for those sick or injured children who need it the most."
