LANSING, Mich. – State Employees Credit Union has partnered with the Capital Area District Library to bring national financial expert Suze Orman to the Lansing area. More than 2,000 people attended the event held at the Wharton Center on the campus of Michigan State University. Orman is a best-selling author of several financial advice books, including The Laws of Money, The Lessons of Life; The Road to Wealth; The Courage to be Rich; and The Nine Steps to Financial Freedom. Producer and host of four PBS specials based on her books, Orman is the personal finance editor for CNBC, host of her own weekend CNBC-TV show, and a contributing editor to O: The Oprah Magazine. During her informative presentation, “Now, What Do I Do?” Orman shared valuable knowledge on practical money management, stressing the need to know your credit score, create a trust, and pay down debt. A book signing followed the event. “Many of those who attended this informative event walked away with many helpful tips on managing their finances,” said SECU President/CEO Steve Winninger. “We were proud of our partnership with CADL and to be a part of this informative and entertaining evening with Suze Orman. It supported the credit union philosophy of providing financial education to the community.”
