HERNDON, Va. – DigitalMailer Inc. has lined up a big entre further into the credit union market for its electronic alerts service: 1,400-client Cavion Plus. Cavion Plus will use the targeted marketing capabilities of DigitalMailer's eLERT solution to complement its existing Account Alerts service. Account Alerts are real-time e-mail alerts based on account thresholds or specific transactions pre-selected by the member, while e-LERTs are opt-in targeted marketing messages, the companies said. For example, members might choose to receive messages about a decrease in vehicle loan rates or higher rates on certificates of deposit. Giving members control over e-mail messages helps position the credit union as a financial partner, rather than an unsolicited vendor, says Ron Daly, president of DigitalMailer. "Members' ability to select and manage their alerts is a vital element. Consumers are besieged by uninvited e-mail marketing, so the last thing credit unions want to do is send more e-mail that could be perceived as spam," adds Nathan Coltvet, director of product management for Cavion Plus in Mounds View, Minn. The two companies already had been working together. For example, credit unions using Cavion Plus for Internet banking can offer their members single sign-on access to their e-statements, DigitalMailer's original product
