OGDEN, Utah – The $2.9 billion America First Credit Union is taking a proactive approach to battle phishing with its new “Anti-Phishing” Team. America First Senior Vice-President Rich Syme says representatives of the credit union's systems security, network systems, e-support, e-services, security, audit, member service call center, marketing and Visa departments, along with America First Vice Presidents who oversee those departments, are all part of the new team. “The team is charged with improving suspicious activity monitoring, developing additional identity verification controls, helping members who detect unusual or fraudulent account activity, improving credit union notification procedures to alert members about e-mail and Internet-related fraud schemes, and caution them against responding,” said Syme. As part of this effort, the CU has established a new anti-phishing e-mail address, [email protected]. It can be used by members to report phishing e-mail activity.
