SAN DIMAS, Calif. – Credit union directors can not claim ignorance when it comes to the books -especially these days, so more and more are trying to learn about basic balance sheet management. WesCorp says it can help. The corporate is holding a series of six free ALM WebCasts geared at directors, in an effort to give them the basics to fulfill their fiduciary duty to their credit union. The first was held on April 26th, with 236 CUs registered and 510 viewers. “We had heard over time that especially new directors didn’t have a good source for the real basic stuff. We geared this first one towards smaller credit unions, and anybody new to the financial areas,” said Dwight Johnston, vice president of economic and market research. “We started with the very basics, what a balance sheet is, the importance of ALM, how models can be used.” Johnston said WesCorp also offers a CD of the WebCast and has already received 300 requests from credit unions. “The next WebCast will go a little more in-depth, the final sixth one will be the most complex.” The next Webinar is scheduled for June 14. For more information or to register e-mail [email protected] Johnston also noted that the first Webinar is archived on the WesCorp site for viewing.
